Dr. Gamble-George received the 2021 NIH Director’s Award as part of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Women’s Health Working Group for her exemplary dedication and advancement of women’s health research, workforce development, and health education. An NIH Director’s Award is the most prestigious honorary award at NIH to recognize the greatest achievements of all institutes and centers (ICs), and offices. Each nomination undergoes a rigorous review process that includes each IC director, the NIH awards review committee and a selection by the NIH director for special recognition. The NIH Director’s Awards recognize exceptional performance and special efforts beyond regular job assignments. These directly relate to fulfilling the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
